The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has taken the fight against importation of fake goods from a more effective dimension through training and sensitization of importers and all operators in the trade chain.
The Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mallam Farouk Salim has therefore, called on Nigerian manufacturers and importers to see the Standards Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP) as a veritable tool for regulating importation of quality goods into Nigeria.
At a one – day sensitization programme on the Standards Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP), organized by the organisation in collaboration with COTECNA, one of the internationally accredited firms involved in conformity assessment of imported raw materials, machinery and finished products, at Calabar, Cross Rivers State recently, Salim enjoined stakeholders in the state to adhere to the requirements of the SONCAP to facilitate their trade, ensure delivery of quality goods to Nigerians and enhance economic growth.
The SON boss was represented by Mr. Usman Mohammed, Director, South South Operations.
