We’re not selling containers, Sifax debunks viral video on 3,000 containers sale

Owner of Nigeria’s largest indigenous container terminal, SIFAX Group, has dismissed as scam, a viral video promoting sale of 3,000 containers on social media puportedly by its Tincan Port, Apapa-based container handling company, Ports and Cargo Handling Services Limited.

In a statement on Monday, the company said the individual featured in the video, who identified himself as Oloja Oluwasegun, and seen wearing a SIFAX-branded reflective jacket, was an impersonator and never a staff of the company.

In the statement titled, “No Truth to Viral Claims: SIFAX Group Clarifies Container Sale Rumours,” and signed by Olumuyiwa Akande,
Group Head, Corporate Communications,the company maintained that it operates in full compliance with industry regulations and standards, adding that the claims made in the footage are baseless and do not reflect the organization’s policies or practices.

“SIFAX Group operates in full compliance with industry regulations and standards, and at no time have we authorized the sale of containers, whether empty or overtime, as alleged in the video. The claims made in the footage are baseless and do not reflect our organization’s policies or practices,” Akande said.

“We urge the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could mislead the public.
SIFAX Group is currently working closely with law enforcement and other relevant agencies to uncover the source of this misinformation and bring those involved to justice.
