As earlier indicated in his minsterial nominee list, Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu has separated maritime resources from the Ministry of Transportation and created a new ministry for the country’s blue economy.
The president appointed Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, 41, as minister of the new ministry named Ministry Marine and Blue Economy.

Maritime industry players have over the years, yearned and consistently called for a separate ministry for the country’s maritime which despite having potential to employ millions of people, is still under-utilised and poorly harnessed.
To head the Ministry of Transportation, the president appointed former Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola.
Tinubu also appointed a lawyer and former minster of state for Labour in the immediate past administration of Muhammadu Buhari, Festus Keyamo as Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
