The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr Abubakar Dantsoho who assumed office in July, has embarked on a restructuring of the seaport regulatory agency’s management starting with reshuffling of port managers.
Dantsoho on Friday, announced the appointment of new port managers across all ports in the country except Rivers Port.
In a memo dated 14th August, 2024 and signed by Dantsoho, the restructuring takes immediate effect.
The newly appointed port managers are Adebowale Lawal Ibrahim (Lagos Port Complex, Apapa); Abubakar Sani Isa (Tin Can Island Port Complex); Abdulrahman Hussaini (Onne Port) and Sa’adu Dahiru Mohammed (Delta Port). Others are Emmanuel Anda (Lekki Port); Kenneth Edith Okezie retains her post as Port Manager Rivers Port, and Ekine Ibifri Alex (Calabar Port).
The former port managers namely Charles Okaga; Sylvester Egede; Teslim Bamidele Makanjuola; Olumati Ikechi Festus and Aliyu Abubakar have been transferred back to the NPA headquarters, effective immediately.
The memo directed the former port managers to report to the Executive Director, Marine and Operations at the NPA headquarters, Marina Lagos.
The NPA boss maintained that the redeployment was aimed at boosting productivity and improving service delivery in the agency.
As indicated in the memo, the newly appointed port managers are expected to resume duty at their new posts on Monday, August 19, 2024.
