Shiping Conference: MASPAN, AMANO express gratitude to MWUN, Adeyanju

Following the very successful hosting of their maritime conference on drugs and human smuggling through ship recently, the Maritime Security Providers Association of Nigeria (MASPAN) and the Alumni of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron (AMANO) have lauded the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and its leadership led by Comrade Adewale Adeyanju for their support during the maiden event.

In a statement mailed to The Nigerian Economy on Sunday,  and signed by MWUN Head of Media Relations, Kennedy Ikemefuna, MWUN said it received the accolade given the support coming from the maritime workers union and its leadership during the just concluded MASPAN_AMANO 2024 Conference themed: “Drugs, Human Smuggling & Trafficking: The Evolving Maritime Security Threats To Ships & Seafarers.”

“The Maritime Security Providers Association of Nigeria in conjunction with the Alumni of Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, with deep sense of responsibility appreciate the sterling leadership qualities of Dr. Adeyanju for his foresight and immense contributions towards a Drug – Free and Human Smuggling and Trafficking in the country’s Maritime sector,” MWUN stated.

In the same vein, Comrade Francis Bunu, Deputy President -General of the union was also given accolades for his goodwill message, which was a morale booster for participants during the occasion; and as an astute Seafarer of note, his contributions and unwavering support for the nation’s Seafarers cannot be overemphasized.

Adeyanju, who doubles as the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and also the Vice President Global, International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) was the Special Guest on the occasion, which was organized by both bodies to sensitise the nation’s maritime space on the dangers of drugs towards the general wellbeing of humanity and the dangers it poses to the society in general, same which goes for human trafficking and smuggling. However, the event came to a successful end with both MASPAN and AMANO avowing their unflinching support for the President -General of MWUN and continued commitment towards the course of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria at all times.
