Presidency honours Jamoh for digital transformation of NIMASA

For his excellent reforms and digital transformation of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr Bashir Jamoh is billed to receive the highly coveted GovTech Trailblazers Award from the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) in October.

According to a statement by Mr Osagie Edward, Assistant Director,  Public Relations, NIMASA’, the BPSR declared NIMASA as the best Federal Government Agency in Digital Transformation, among other ministries, departments and agencies of (MDAs) of the Federal Government following the agency’s nomination in a voting process for the 2023 GovTech Trailblazers award.

The Director General, BPSR, Dr Dasuki Arabi who conveyed the Presidential award to NIMASA Management, said Jamoh was nominated to receive the distinguished GovTech Trailblazers award for providing exemplary leadership.

BPSR also stated that the awards were results of a nationwide nomination and online voting process initiated by the Bureau, as well as a detailed analysis of performance of all government MDAs at the national and state levels.

However, The Economy gathered that other awards in the category include Best MDA in Cyber Security Excellence, Best MDA in Open Data, Best MDA in Blockchain Innovation, among other categories for Federal and State MDAs.

The NIMASA boss will join some named state governors who are also winners of the award in the Governors category.

The governors include Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Charles Soludo of Anambra State, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and Godwin Obaseki of Edo State as nominees for the coveted GovTech Trailblazer Governor of the Year Award.

Reacting to his nomination, Jamoh expressed pleasure and assured of the Agency’s commitment to full operational digitalization.

“This award is a pleasant surprise. We weren’t expecting it. We were just doing our job. This award will spur us to accelerate our quest to fully digitalize all NIMASA operations,” Jamoh said.

Public sector reform consists of deliberate changes to the structures and processes of public sector organizations with the objective of getting them to run better.

The 2023 Nigeria GovTech Public Service Awards, a collaborative effort between the BPSR and Crystal Edge Management and Technologies Ltd.

The award ceremony will be the highlight of the two-day Nigeria GovTech Conference, scheduled for October 12th-13th, 2023, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
