Social media personality, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan has told the House of Representatives how he got the controversial audio on crossdresser, Bobrisky.
This is as the activist social media figure apologised to legal luminary, Femi Falana over his alleged mentioning of the lawyer in connection with the Bobrisky saga on his social media handle.
VeryDarkMan appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions in Abuja on Monday, but initially refused to speak on his allegations against Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky.
VeryDarkMan insisted that he would not speak to the house since Bobrisky who was also invited to appear before the lower chamber was not present in person.
The house Committee also invited officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) following the allegations against the two institutions in the controversial audio, which was posted by VeryDarkMan on his Instagram handle recently.
However, after pressure from members of the house committee and persuasion by his lawyer, VeryDarkMan spoke on how he got the audio, saying that he got it from a certain creditor of Bobrisky.
He said: “How I got hold of that recording is as a result of Bobrisky blackmailing somebody he owes money. According to the story and evidence of proof of chat that was sent to me.
“The person borrowed (lent) Bobrisky N4 million when he was in EFCC detention or rather in a private apartment. The person gave him the money on the 19th of June, 2024.”
He also apologised to prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, following his recent defamatory remarks directed at the senior advocate.
VeryDarkMan had in a viral audio recording, revealed that Bobrisky had alleged that some EFCC officers extorted N15 million from him in exchange for dropping money laundering charges against him.
Sharing the viral audio, VeryDarkMan, in an Instagram post, he also said that Femi Falana sought a presidential pardon for Bobrisky which cost the crossdresser N10 million.
The allegation was met with a response from Falana’s legal team. The senior lawyer denied the claim and insisted that he never spoke to Bobrisky about any alleged pardon.
In a turn of events, VeryDarkMan, while appearing before the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions on Monday, apologised to Falana for the allegation.
He stated that he also found it difficult to believe that Falana was involved in the alleged bribery involving Bobrisky and some EFCC officers.
He, however, called for a thorough investigation into the alleged bribery, clarifying that his intention was not to defame Falana.
He said, “Apparently, now, some people are taking advantage of what is going to target Femi Falana.
“Here, I apologise. It’s so sad that his name was inside that audio. I couldn’t believe as well; that is the part that irritated me more when I said I refuse to believe that he is a party to something like that.”
